Meet Rebecca Reisch, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, JWPHPT Associate Editor

Posted By: Rebecca A. Reisch Member Spotlight, Research & Knowledge,

Introducing the people behind #JWHPT. Meet Rebecca Reisch, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, one of our esteemed associate editors for the Journal of Women’s Health Physical Therapy (Based in Portland, OR).

WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND?

I have been a women’s health therapist for 19 years. Currently I am a professor at Pacific University in Oregon where I teach content related to evidence-based practice and women’s health/pelvic floor physical therapy, and I practice part-time in our on-site clinic. I have been an Associate Editor for the Journal for three years.

WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO VOLUNTEER WITH JWHPT?

I had been involved in other Academy activities in the past, and I was anxious to contribute again. I really enjoy reading and editing, so the journal is a good fit; I also wanted to contribute to long-term expansion of our evidence base in this specialty area.

HOW ARE YOU ADAPTING DURING THIS GLOBAL HEALTH CRISIS?

I’m on sabbatical from my academic position right now. Being on sabbatical during the pandemic is both good and bad; my daily life has not been as impacted as those who are still trying to work full time or who are out of work, but I am not doing some of the things I had planned for my free time. Overall, I’m getting through just fine.
