Medical Model Directory
The Academy established this public Medical Model Directory to help make the model search process easier for those seeking medical models for hands-on lab courses, whether taking an Academy course or an external course. The Academy offers courses with hands-on labs where registrants participate as “patients” or “therapists.” If registrants are unable to serve as “patients” or participate in internal vaginal and/or rectal exams, they are encouraged to bring a medical model.
Both Academy members and non-members may list their model services in the directory, including paid and/or volunteer/free services. Directory listings may include individuals participating in external-only and/or internal examination labs.
By using this directory, you understand that:
- You are responsible for negotiating any payment arrangements directly with your selected model (e.g honorarium, hourly rate).
- You are responsible for any costs associated with bringing a medical model to a course(e.g. travel, lodging, per diem).
- You are responsible for verifying the model's information and confirming that the model is comfortable participating in any required internal and/or external examinations prior to the course. Some models may only participate in external examinations, while others may be willing to participate in both internal and external examinations.
- You are also responsible for ensuring the model has the appropriate pelvic anatomy relevant to the specific course and lab activities, recognizing that individuals may identify differently while presenting with different pelvic anatomy.

📝 If You Arranged a Model for an Academy Course
Your model must sign the Academy Course Model Participation Consent Form at least 1 week before the course in order to stand in as your model at the course. Without a signed form on file, the model will not be permitted to participate in the lab activities and will be asked to leave the classroom. This form includes information such as medical model expectations and the types of internal and external examinations the model is expected to participate in.

- Serving as a model can provide valuable insight into the patient experience.
- Log in or create an account through the Member Compass . If you are a non-member, create an account. If you are a member, you will just need to log in.
- Click on Profile and scroll to the section titled Directory Profile: Standardized Patient Model Opportunity.
- Opt in and list your model service details, including whether you offer paid or free model services.
- Click Save before exiting.
- Return to the Medical Model Directory to view your listing.
Who Can Join the Directory?
- Academy members (PT, PTA, SPT) who wish to offer their model services
- Non-members who wish to offer their model services
- Professional standardized patient/medical models
- Individuals with prior pelvic health model experience
- Healthcare professionals, students, or community volunteers interested in supporting pelvic health education
- Individuals willing to participate in external and/or internal examination labs
- Individuals offering paid or volunteer or free standardized model services
- Individuals available locally and/or willing to travel for courses or events
Directory Disclaimer
This Medical Model Directory is provided as a resource to assist individuals in identifying persons who may serve as medical models for Academy courses or other events. Use of this directory is entirely at the discretion of the individual, who assumes full responsibility for verifying the qualifications, availability, and arrangements with any selected model.
It is the individual’s responsibility to clearly communicate all model expectations, including specific details about the lab activities the model may be required to participate in, such as internal vaginal, rectal, or external procedures.
The Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy does not screen, endorse, or guarantee any individual included in this directory. All individuals listed have voluntarily chosen to be included. The Academy is not responsible for any agreements, financial, legal, or otherwise, made between individuals and models, nor for any outcomes resulting from such arrangements.
By utilizing this directory and contacting anyone listed, the individual acknowledges and accepts these terms. If the model is arranged for an Academy course, the model will be required to sign a Model Participation Consent Form in accordance with Academy regulations.
If the model is arranged for a non-Academy event, it is the individual’s responsibility to ensure that the model signs any required paperwork with the event organizer and with the individual, and acknowledges that they assume all associated risks.
Medical models listed in this directory also voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation, including any risks arising from their inclusion in the directory and involvement in any events or lab activities. Models are encouraged to fully understand the expectations, procedures, and potential risks before agreeing to participate.
