Future PTA Pelvic Floor Specialist

Posted By: Zakiyyah Bogan Member Spotlight,

If you had told me a few years ago that I’d be writing a blog post in the pelvic floor field, I probably would’ve laughed. Mostly because back then, I was too busy stressing over an exam I couldn’t seem to pass.

I failed the same NPTE multiple times. Each attempt felt heavier than the last. I questioned my intelligence, my path, and even whether I was cut out for healthcare at all. Watching others move forward while I felt stuck was one of the hardest experiences of my life.

But here’s the truth: those failures shaped me more than any easy success ever could.

Each time I failed, I learned something new about myself, how I study, how I cope, and most importantly, why I wanted to help people in the first place. I realized that I wasn’t meant to rush through my journey. I was meant to grow through it.

During my downtime, I discovered my passion for pelvic floor health. an area that is often overlooked but has such a powerful impact on people’s lives. The more I learned, the more I knew this was where I was meant to be. I had amazing mentors that help and guide me into passing the NPTE and develop my love for pelvic floor.

Today, as I continue to study and grow in the pelvic floor field, I carry those lessons with me. My journey is a reminder that setbacks don’t signify the end of a goal. Sometimes, they are simply the guidance needed to find the right one.

I am currently working in an outpatient setting and taking pelvic floor courses to become a specialist in the field. This academy has taught me so much and continues to challenge me in ways I never would’ve thought. I have build connections and long term friends that care about the needs of patients.

Failing the NPTE wasn’t the end of my story. It was the redirect and motivation that I didn’t know I needed.

To anyone who’s struggling right now: your failures don’t define you. They’re just part of the process that leads you to where you truly belong.

Do not give up!
