Find a Medical Model

The Academy offers courses with hands-on labs where registrants act as 'patients' or 'therapists.' If registrants can't serve as 'patients' and unable to participate in the internal vaginal and/or rectal exams, they are required to bring a medical model. In the past, some registrants have brought friends, significant others, colleagues, or professional standardized patient models to stand in as their model. We seek to create a model directory to make the model search an easier experience. Serving as a model provides valuable insight into the patient experience. Volunteer models (unpaid) who are PTs, PTAs, or SPTs, will receive discounts on select Academy of Pelvic Health courses. Participants may negotiate individual rates of payment with their model subjects. Course participants are responsible for the cost of a medical model. This Medical Model Directory is provided as a resource to assist individuals in identifying persons who may serve as medical models for Academy courses or other events. Use of this directory is entirely at the discretion of the individual, who assumes full responsibility for verifying the qualifications, availability, and arrangements with any selected model. By utilizing this directory and by contacting anyone in this directory, the individual acknowledges and accepts these terms. If the model is arranged for an Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy course, the model will be required to sign a Model Participation Consent Form per Academy regulations. If the model is arranged for a non-Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy event, it is the individual's responsibility to ensure that the model signs any required paperwork with the event organizer and with the individual, and acknowledges that they assume all associated risks.

Medical models listed in this directory also voluntarily assume all risks associated with their participation, including any risks arising from their inclusion in the directory and their involvement in any events or lab activities. Models are encouraged to fully understand the expectations, procedures, and potential risks before agreeing to participate.
