Professional Bio

Dr. Tieya M. Qualls, PT, DPT, PRPC, RYT-200, CPYT is the founder of DMV based practice, Quality Touch Physical Therapy & Wellness, a holistic physical therapy practice integrating traditional physical therapy with ancillary wellness services such as Yoga, mindfulness, bodywork, and fitness training to assist patrons in achieving overall health, wellness, and well-being.

Dr. Qualls has over 18 years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist with certification in pelvic health. She earned her B.S. in Biology from Hampton University in 2002, followed by a Master’s and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Howard University in 2005 and 2012, respectively. Throughout her career, she has gained experience while working in various clinical settings.

Dr. Qualls is a certified BIRTH DOULA, providing education, emotional and physical support for the pregnant and postpartum population. She values being a birth worker, assisting her clients during their very beautiful life experience.

Dr. Qualls, is a certified YOGA INSTRUCTOR, registered with Yoga Alliance and a certified PRENATAL YOGA INSTRUCTOR. She utilizes the art and practice of Yoga in her personal life and incorporates it to help her patients and clients as well.

She has served as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Howard University and is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor. Dr. Qualls also holds the Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification from the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.

In addition to her passion for treating conditions of the pelvic floor, pregnancy, and the postpartum period, she utilizes her advanced training in manual therapy techniques (including myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, and dry needling) to address a variety of musculoskeletal and chronic pain conditions. She tailors each treatment to the individual, focusing on holistic care and the mind-body connection, while ensuring patient/client comfort via trauma-informed care.
