Professional Bio

Sarah Ammons is an orthopedic and women’s health physical therapist at Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women. Dr. Ammons earned her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy and Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Texas Women’s University. She completed her post-professional residency in orthopedic physical therapy at Harris Health System in Houston and a manual therapy fellowship through the Manual Therapy Institute. Additionally, she is a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) and Women’s Health Physical Therapy (WCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Dr. Ammons has completed APTA’s Section on Women’s Health Pelvic Floor and Obstetrics Series and has additionally attended Herman and Wallace coursework. She completes a certification in Pain Neuroscience Education in 2022 through Evidence in Motion and has additional training in biofeedback and dry needling. Her clinical expertise includes management of acute and chronic orthopedic conditions and pelvic floor dysfunction. She has a special interest in the intersection of orthopedics and women’s health including exercise during and post pregnancy, incontinence in athletes and the correlation between hip pain and pelvic floor issues. Her practice philosophy integrates evidence based manual therapy, exercise and pain science with a biopsychosocial approach to treat the whole patient.
