Learn more about how menstrual health plays a role in both treating the pelvic and orthopedic populations! Menstrual health is relevant to several pelvic health conditions and overall wellness. This educational webinar is intended to provide information to future providers and empower people. This webinar will bring the Student SIG together, as well as have the opportunity for collaboration with orthopedic interests.

Julia Smeltz, DPT, ATC, RYT will detail how to track, evaluate, and interpret the menstrual cycle and how it affects overall health. In addition, she will be discussing how menstrual health affects orthopedic conditions and how prevalent Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) is. This webinar aims to:

  1. Teach and empower students, as well as other viewers about their bodies
  2. Collaborate with multiple groups of future providers and demonstrate the parallels between our fields
  3. Describe how menstrual health is relevant to future practice

About the Speaker

Julia Smeltz, DPT, ATC, RYT  is a Women’s Sports Medicine Physical Therapist and Yoga Instructor who is passionate about empowering and encouraging women around the world with a message of hope and healing. She is the CEO of Core 4 Healing and Wellness – Eastern PA’s Premier Pelvic Health Center! She is also the creator of Pelvic Health Kickstarters LLC where she passionately pursues her mission of guiding and equipping the next generation of pelvic health practitioners. When not trying to change the world one pelvis at a time, Julia enjoys traveling, rock climbing, and searching for the perfect avocado., Haley is a third year DPT student at Mercer University in Atlanta, GA. She currently serves as an APTA Student Special Interest Group Director. Haley has taken her APTA Pelvic Health Level 1 course and plans to complete a clinical rotation in Pelvic Health next Spring. In her free time, Haley works part-time at Pure Barre and likes to spend time at the lake with her family and 4 dogs.
