Category: In-Person Events

📍 Event State / Region: Oregon, Northwest

Join us on November 3rd, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM at George Fox University DPT for an exclusive in-person screening of Below the Belt, a groundbreaking documentary directing light onto the widespread, silent crisis of endometriosis. The film follows the personal journeys of four patients navigating severe, unexplained symptoms while battling systemic failures, societal taboos, and implicit gender bias within the healthcare system. Following the screening, attendees will engage in a focused discussion exploring how future healthcare providers—particularly physical therapists—can better recognize complex pelvic pain conditions, bridge diagnostic gaps, and advocate for systemic reform in patient care.

What You Will Learn & Do
  1. Analyze Systemic Healthcare Gaps: Identify how gender bias, medical gaslighting, and societal taboos contribute to significant diagnostic delays and inadequate treatment options for endometriosis patients.
  2. Recognize Complex Clinical Presentations: Expand clinical awareness of chronic pelvic pain and associated symptoms to facilitate earlier detection and appropriate multidisciplinary referrals.
  3. Strengthen Patient Advocacy: Learn actionable strategies to validate patient experiences, foster trauma-informed care environments, and dismantle barriers within clinical settings.
  4. Engage in Interprofessional Dialogue: Participate in a collaborative Q&A to discuss the evolving role of physical therapy and allied health professions in managing pelvic health conditions.
