Student Clinical Affiliation Description

This student clinical affiliation includes working with pelvic rehabilitation patients of all genders in an outpatient hospital-based setting with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner (PRPC), and Credentialed Clinical Instructor (CCI). In addition to working in the rehabilitation setting with this population, additional shadowing opportunities include outpatient and OR shadowing in Urogynecology, outpatient and OR shadowing in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, and inpatient shadowing with our pelvic physical therapist. Weekly mentorship meetings and planning meetings are included in clinical rotations with me and will be scheduled based on the structure of the rotation.

Student Clinical Affiliation Requirements

Students are expected to have taken a Level 1 Course including internal labs through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute or the APTA. If other course work has been taken as a substitute for either of these courses, I will need to review it personally to ensure the content meets the standard for working with patients independently. I am seeking students who are passionate about pelvic health and growing their skillset, are open to treating all pelvises, and are excited about collaborating with other rehab clinicians and interdisciplinary providers. A skills check for internal pelvic floor competency will be completed prior to allowing a student to directly treat patients in this capacity.
