Jose Manuel “Joey” Lanzona (he/they) is a resident physical therapist at Symbio Physio and a recent Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) graduate from Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. Joey is passionate about dismantling taboos in healthcare, with a focus on male pelvic health, queer/transgender care, sexual health, and intimacy. They have experience treating a wide spectrum of patients and enjoy working with performers of all kinds – ballet dancers, drag artists, and nightlife entertainers alike.
As a Pelvic Health Rehabilitation Specialist, Joey navigates sensitive topics of intimacy, kinks, pain, trauma, and dysfunction with both skilled hands and a compassionate presence. Joey’s goal is to become the trusted physical therapist for all pelvises, providing expert guidance and care for drag artists, dancers, performers, and entertainers, while welcoming all patients seeking relief from aches, pains, or dysfunction.
Born in the Philippines and raised in Newark, Delaware, Joey brings warmth, curiosity, and dedication to every patient encounter. When not pushing healthcare toward a brighter, more inclusive future, Joey can be found exploring NYC for vegan pastries, watching the sunset at Hudson River Park, or serving the community as a committee member for the Marketing & Communications Committee of Barkada NYC, a Queer Filipinx organization.
