About the Presenter
Bert Messelink, Urologist-Certified Sexologist
Bert is a urologist and from the start of his working life in urology, he was interested in functional problems. He put his energy into helping develop a multidisciplinary approach to pelvic floor problems. That started 25 years ago and it is great to see that this approach has become the golden standard. Later on, Bert met people dealing with pelvic pain and joined them in their activities. This has resulted in being the vice-chairman of the European Association of Urology guidelines on chronic pelvic pain. In his home country, Bert is chairman of the committee that wrote the first guideline on CPP. He is one of the editors of the book Abdominal and Pelvic Pain, based on the first World Congress on Abdominal and Pelvic Pain (2013). At the moment, Bert is still working as a urologist-sexologist and seeing many patients with pelvic pain and sexual problems in his multidisciplinary pelvic pain clinic.
