Heather Jeffcoat, DPT is the author of Sex Without Pain: A Self-Treatment Guide To The Sex Life You Deserve and is the most recent Past President of the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Duke University, Comprehensive Teacher Training Certification in Pilates from BASI & her Certified Fascial Stretch Therapist thru the Stretch to Win Institute. Heather specializes in treating Orthopedic & Pelvic Health physical therapy diagnoses for women, men & transgender patients with a focus on chronic pain, pelvic pain, TMJ dysfunction and birth prep and postpartum care. She has been involved w/ the APTA's Section on Women's Health (now Academy of Pelvic Health) & has written numerous documents that are distributed around the country. She is an international speaker, having taught and presented on 4 continents, including @ the American Urogynecology Society (AUGS) meeting & @ International Pelvic Pain Society's (IPPS) meeting on Chronic Pelvic Pain & Female Sexual Dysfunction. She has been featured on ABC News, Sirius XM, The Washington Post, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Sex With Emily podcast & more.

Student Clinical Affiliation Description

Students are expected to carry a full-time schedule. Time is blocked to prep for inservices and/or special projects as defined by their CI. Our focus is combined orthopedic and pelvic health approach. We are a collaborative practice with myofascial release therapists, pilates instructor, somatic therapist. We also have advanced tech, such as low intensity shockwave (Softwave device) and other devices to better support our patient care.

Student Clinical Affiliation Requirements

We take 3rd year students in their final rotation only. Candidate must undergo interview process and complete at a minimum one Pelvic Health Level 1 course prior to start of clinical affiliation (Level 1 and 2 preferred).
